Gunnison - The Forks

Come and experience the Gunnison River at it's finest. Four miles of accessible gold medal water on the tail end of the Gunnison Gorge Conservation Area, just downstream from the Black Canyon. This stretch of the Gunnison has the largest population of Rainbows and Browns, and is just upstream from the North Fork of the Gunnison River. The Gunnison is a big river, so have a guide help you find the fish and figure out what they are eating. This stretch is a favorite of locals and is accessible from both sides of the river, making this stretch seemingly empty, even on a busy day. Uncompahgre - Paco-chu-puk

The Uncompahgre River below Ridgway Reservoir provide easy access to a well structured river. This section is called Pa-Co-Chu-Puk, or Pa-Co, and is a great place to learn to fly fish, learn how to read water, and best of all catch fish, which are plentiful with it's gold medal classification. Cimarron - Forks
Great Dry, Dropper Water -- Full Details [+]
The Cimarron River, above Silverjack Reservoir has three forks. The setting is gorgeous! The East and Middle combine to flow into Silverjack. The West Fork is off the beaten path, so most of our focus is on the East and Middle forks or the combined river. These are small streams with small fish. Rainbows, Cutthroats and Cutbows mostly. For the Novice to intermediate, these are great for a half day or full day fishing experience, especially for the novice fly fisher. Dry fly fishing with a nymph is the typical M.O. This is a great place to learn to read water. A typical full day trip begins at the shop around 8:00 AM where the staff will help the customers make sure they have the proper gear, flies and licenses to have a wonderful day on the river. There is about an hour drive time to the Cimarron. Up to 12 flies and a box Lunch are provided on full day trips . Water is provided. Rainbows and Cutthroats inhabit these creeks. When full they are small streams, but later in the summer they are pretty small, yet have good pockets and holding water. Located just East of Hotchkiss, Colorado, Sunshine Springs Angling Club is set in a side canyon with a series of six ponds. Daily number of fisherman is limited to six, so fishing is always good.
