River Section Description

This section provides some easy access as well as some big boulder, and fairly aggressive fishing up to the hill that leads from the River to Beaver lake Campground. Rainbows, Browns Beaver Lake is another access point. There is a ?Fisherman?s Parking? area where you can park and by heading east through the campground find a trail that will take you down to the river and some fun pocketwater fishing. The East and Middle Forks are accessible from here. The West fork requires a hike part way around the lake and is de-watered for irrigation in the summer, and is pretty skinny. The East and Middle come together and flow into Silverjack. This is very accessible and fun pocketwater that gets stocked in the summer. Fishing the forks upstream is also a great way to spend the day fishing! Rainbows, with a few Cutthroats.

Latest Fishing Gossip

Pleasure Park Area Fishing Again

Just got off the phone with Al DeGrange of Gunnison River Expeditions. He reported that the inner gorge from Chukar to the Smith Fork is only slightly off color from the massive flash flood that went thru 6 days ago. He also reported that the Gunnison from Smith Fork down to Pleasure Park has about 3-4 feet of visibility and is clearing fast. Trips that went through yesterday had good results from the Smith Fork down. The North Fork itself is just slightly off color, so the lower Gunnison should be fishing well.
